Computer security is a branch of information security applied to both theoretical and actual computer systems. Computer security is a branch of computer science that addresses enforcement of 'secure' behavior on the operation of computers. The definition of 'secure' varies by application, and is typically defined implicitly or explicitly by a security policy that addresses confidentiality, integrity and availability of electronic information that is processed by or stored on computer systems.

Security is one thing that every PC user should have. Before even going online, directly to the internet. You should find and utilize any protection software, Ex. Firewalls, Virus Protection Applications, Spyware/Malware Apps. At work or at home, ask about or define a computer use policy. If at work, contact the Network Security/Network Administrator, and ask about the local IDS "Intrusion Detection System" or any other security measures that have been taken.

As soon as your "protected" check online for safe operating system updates. Usually the vendor of the machine your using will have a company website that will allow you to check for updates.

The point is, persay, if you work from home or at home. If you save any personal/sensitive information on your PC, chances are someone can find your PC and utilize that information in any way they wish. Although illegal, crimes such as this happen all the time. Programs such as LimeWire, Morpheus, and other peer-to-peer programs can be sharing your personal information. Ex. LimeWire uses a sharing system in which it shares entire folders at a time. If not configured, LimeWire shares automatically, "My Documents, and My Shared". This means anything in those folders can be accessed by anyone with the limewire program. My advice is dont use these file sharing programs. Sharing Music is ILLEGAL! Dont do it.

Very Truly said ,

The number one thing that really gets me is how easy it is to just enable a firewall but yet people bother to dothat along with other simple things like going out or even downloading free protection to help protect there PC. So learn from that and PROTECT your pc by download a few shareware programs like AVG or AD-WARE SE PERSONAL and help stop from paying a fortune on some to come fix it .
